She hesitated, then took a cautious step forward. But the moment my fingers brushed her fur, she let out a sharp cry—half fear, half pain. It was clear she had known only hardship. Perhaps she had been abandoned… or worse, chased away again and again. She cried when she saw our two dogs, Khan and Liliac, her voice filled with distress.
