The best part was experimenting with more multimedia-esque elements to fit the style and atmosphere of a slower-paced short, from rotoscoping characters and camera motions to implementing panoramic backgrounds in compositing, to even filming real-life footage with an old camera my parents kept around. I feel that animation as a medium does end up struggling with horror for a variety of reasons, but there are also a lot of strengths unique to animation that can still pull off the effect through completely different ways.
