However, this chance encounter changed everything. Starting with the first careful feeding, the following 42 days witnessed the birth of a life miracle. The little swallow gradually grew from a weak fledgling who initially needed human assistance just to open her mouth for food, into a healthy swallow capable of free flight and playful mischief. She learned to trust humans, would actively fly to her rescuer's side to seek affection, and would even bring caught insects as gifts to the person caring for her.
