LOWS Loud and cramped inside, trucks are no longer this trucky, steering inputs are just a suggestion. VERDICT An off-roader that kills it off-road but drags a host of compromises along when it takes to the pavement. What the Jeep Wrangler lacks in driving refinement, it makes up for in choice. Two doors or four? Hardtop or soft? What about a V-6, a turbo four-cylinder, a monster V-8, or a plug-in-hybrid powertrain? All that and more is available for mixing and matching. Sure, the Ford Bronco and Toyota 4Runner offer more comfort and better on-road manners, but that's not what attracts folks to the Wrangler. It is its reputation for off-roading distilled, improved over the years with the availability of things like power windows and air conditioning—and now even decent infotainment—but retaining the look, character, and capability that date back to its inception as part of the WWII war effort. You'll have to get past the vague steering, bumpy ride, and tight interior if you want to make one your daily driver, so we suggest a test drive before signing on the dotted line. Buy a Wrangler and then you'll be inducted into a not-so-rare group of enthusiasts who wave to each other with a knowing glance that says, "We're all in this together." What's New for 2025? First, Jeep planned to offer V-6 Wranglers solely with a manual transmission, leaving the eight-speed automatic for the rest of the lineup. However, public pressure caused Jeep to rethink that idea and once again offer automatic-equipped V-6 models. The regular, raucous, Rubicon 392 V-8 model has been jettisoned, but the Rubicon 392 Final Edition hangs on for (at least) another year. Power windows and locks are now standard on all models, which is remarkable for any vehicle to not have had those features standard before 2025. In what appears to be a reference to the original WWII Jeep, an olive-drab color simply called '41 joins the paint family. Pricing and Which One to Buy We like the idea of staying close to the Wrangler's simple roots while keeping the price toward the low end of the range, so we'd start with the two-door Wrangler—which comes standard with a removable cloth top. We don't want to go full WWII bare-bones, so we'd opt for the Willys trim for its extra equipment, which includes 17-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, LED exterior lighting, and built-in auxiliary switches so you can mount and control your own accessories such as a winch or a light bar. Beyond that, we'd spec the 270-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder for its 295 pound-feet of torque—35 pound-feet more than the standard V-6. The four-cylinder also comes standard with an eight-speed automatic, which should make for low-stress trail driving. Read More https://www.caranddriver.com/jeep/wra...
