Ingredients For the Dough: 5 cups of flour 1½ cups of warm water 1 tea glass (approximately 100 ml) of vegetable oil 1 teaspoon of mahlep 1 teaspoon of salt 1 tablespoon of yeast 1 tea glass (approximately 100 ml) of granulated sugar For the Topping: 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon of pekmez (grape molasses) 1 small bowl of sesame seeds Instructions Mixing the Dough: In a deep bowl, add the flour. Then add the mahlep, sugar, salt, yeast, warm water, and oil. Mix everything thoroughly until you obtain a dough that is smooth and no longer sticky to your hands. First Rise: Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour. Dividing and Shaping: Once the dough has risen, divide it into 7 equal pieces. Roll each piece out into a long strip. Arrange these strips side by side and braid or intertwine them into a traditional pattern. Second Proof: Place the braided dough on a baking tray and let it proof for another 30 minutes. Applying the Topping: In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk with the pekmez. Brush this mixture evenly over the dough. Then, sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. Baking: Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
